I saw one (pristine) today for sale. Is this a really rare one? What's it worth?
Thanks,
Bill

It's certainly one you don't come across too often. I wonder what it's worth though, since the Hi-Matic E is difficult to find batteries for--I don't know if that would affect its desirability. I'd sure love to have it though. I've got two chrome ones that I love; the Rokkor on these is a phenomenal lens along with the camera's ability to shoot at 1/1000s, a rarity with these compact RFs. How much were they asking for the black one you saw?

The Korean used camera dealers are pretty savvy about values, but the Dollar vs. Won rate is pretty good now. My guess is not over $125. I can go back and check next Saturday if interested. It appears to be flawless.
Mine is silver w/ a bright yellow snakeskin and I luv it!

I tracked one on UK ebay for a couple of days. It went for £18 (about $27), but no idea whether it was working etc.

I had a black hi-matic e that I bought for 10 bucks, I should have never sold it. It went on ebay for 40 bucks. It was absolutely spotless and worked great, I took it apart and cleaned it all up myself. I was expecting to get at least 50, but thats what I got.

Evidentally they aren't so rare or the bottom has fallen out the mkt. for vintage cameras. 'Glad I didn't pull the trigger on that one!

I have a black one. It's actually my first rangefinder, and the camera that got me interested in RF's. It's an excellent camera all around (lens, meter accuracy, size).
I use 2 PX625A batteries with a homemade brass spacer to fill in the gap, works like a charm. It was bought at a thrift store for $2.00
but that was sheer luck.
Cheers.

Thanks for the offer Bill, but I'll have to pass since I've got several other ebay irons in the fire at present.
