I recently took apart a Minolta 24 Rapid I bought. Wanted to share this important bit of info.

Once you have to top cover off, which is easy, 3 screws and it slides upward, nothing attached to it, you can see the advance lever and gears, the film counter, and the meter stuff.

The film counter screw (which holds the spring and film counter dial onto a metal post is a LEFT hand screw. So turn it right to remove! or it will strip or break off. I figured that one out. Then you take off the screw, the spring retaining washer (rectangular), and the film counter spool.

Under that is a post with a hex shaped base, which you need to remove to get at the advance lever and the large black advance gear. The thread on the hex base post is also LEFT hand thread. So turn it right to undo. Or you will be drilling, tapping and fixing the hex shaped post like me.
