Hi everyone, After years of playing around with digital photography, I just bought my first rangefinder (actually my first film camera since I was a little kid), a Minolta 7s. Everything seems to work really well except for the meter. I put in a 1.4v hearing aid battery (675) with some padding, and the needle is responsive, but it seems way out of calibration. It's reading 12EV in pitch dark, 14-15 inside, and is pretty much stuck at 17 in the sunlight. Changing the film speed makes some difference but it pretty much stays in the same range (turned completely off the meter reports ~12EV; at 800 it is more in the 14-17+ range).
I'm pretty happy learning to use the camera in manual mode, but if the meter's possible to fix/re-calibrate I would love to know how (also whether it is a mechanical or electrical problem). I've searched around a little on here and Classic Camera Repair, but absent the right terminology, I was not having much luck. Thanks!

This sort of problem often (but not always) points to the ground wire being loose, often under the top plate.
