Hi Everyone,
I was the "lucky" winner of 3 auctions on that famous auction site and all 3 have issues. I fixed one, made more damage to another and about halfway to success with the last one (I think it will be successful).
The last one is a Minolta Hi-Matic E and everything seems to work except that the shutter speed and apeture remain constant for each metered scene. I can move the ASA ring and the camera will respond with the same aperture and shutter speed for each ASA setting. If I point to a different scene, the meter will respond to the change by selecting a different aperture. But the same apeture and shutter will be the same for all the ASA settings.
I think the shutter is the same no matter what. The green light or red light in the viewfinder is not visible. The little red Electro square on the top does not light up (is it supposed to?). I was using some unused batteries (one was a mercury batterey) so it shouldn't be a battery issue.
