I almost left this one sit at the thrift store today. I thought $4.99 was a bit steep. I told my wife we're going back because it would "bug me" if didn't buy it. "Why do you need more cameras?", she asked. "I don't", I replied as our speed increased on the way back to the store. I thought to myself that 1 skipped value meal = 1 plastic Minolta 35mm camera. Sold.

I would like anybody with experience with this particular model to reply on the operation of this model. Can the aperture be adjusted by using the adjustable GN feature. The needle in the viewfinder is responsive but I'm not sure if I should be able to see the aperture open to a low setting. The lens is 38mm 2.8.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

I'm not sure if the G (or G2) even really has an aperture in the classic sense, I think that aperture size may be formed by the shutter blades.

There is some speculation that the Hi-Matic G is actually a Konica C35-V wearing the Minolta badge. I believe that the aperture size can be adjusted by using the guide number settings, but the shutter speed will only fire at 1/30th of a second if used this way.
