I bought one with a 58mm 1.2 lens. The mirror on the camera would stick and not return down while the lens had stuck aperture blades. I gave them to Marty's camera repair. They are local to me and I normally hand deliver. camera was completely cleaned and the lens was completely disassembled and cleaned and adjusted. Both have worked flawlessly since then. The turnaround time was a week for the lens and 3 weeks for the camera (he said he had to get parts from a donor body). Total cost $70. I don't know if he does repairs by mail order. I would call and ask him directly. Highly recommended.
In US - I always go to http://www.garryscamera.com/
Garry did jobs for me 4 times, each time wonderful, cheap and quick. Couple times Minoltas. Last time- Leica R.
Well, not really: when it arrives, you'll very often find out that it wasn't maintained properly. And after some 40 or 50 years, even a truly sturdy camera like a Minolta SR-T will suffer from some annoying problems like a deteriorated mirror damper, etc.
Not any more than you could buy a car that has been garaged for fifty years, and expect to be able to fire it up and have it work in top condition.
Most likely ii would be ruined by that type of abuse.
$50 is too much for a typical SRT, unless it has an exotic lens attached.
Believe me, this does happen.
You can buy restored SRTs from John Titterton, he sells them on Ebay at fair prices. Or buy the one you really particularly want and send it to him.
