I have tried to find a reference to this question but haven't been able to so far. When I seat the flash on the camera and it depresses the lever, should I see the needle pointing to 1/125 or does it continue to read until I take the picture? Mine doesn't with the flash on or off. My thought was when the lever was depressed I would see the needle in a fixed position.
Hope this thing still works with flash.

Oh dear, it's been a long time ago since I had a Minox 35 GTE model.. So I can't really remember whether the shutter needle is supposed to go to the 1/125 position when the flash is mounted.
But it's fairly easy to check whether the microswitch works and makes the camera click at 1/125.. Open the back, put a flash in the hot-shoe and look through the lens while the camera shoots in a dark environment..
Whether the flash is powered-on or not makes no difference, as there isn't a flash ready contact. The only thing that makes the camera know a flash is present is the microswitch.
By the way, if the microswitch is defunct, you're not at all in trouble, as the Minox will happily sync at any speed. In some ways, this is even better, as you'll now get a decent balance with ambient. When I had a Minox 35, I used to keep a 2nd flash at hand with a part of its shoe cut off, so that I could actually shoot fill flash without being stuck to 1/125..
