Now int the past I've placed an XA on a pocket tripod and used the self timer and got some worthwhile shots at night or in really dark situations. I know the Xa is capable of some long exposures., what I'm not sure about is the technical data concerning Minox 35ML exposure times. I might experiment a bit, has anyone placed a 35ML on a tripod, tripped the shutter via the selftimer and shot at say f11 for night time shots.

I have never tried long exposures on a tripod with the Minox 35ML.
According to the instructions the longest exposure time with ISO 100 film is 1 second.
Link: Minox 35 manuals
Mine is presently loaded with Kodachrome so I am unable to verify if in reality longer exposures are possible.

Many cameras exceed published specifications in long exposure capability.
Before you write it off try "dry firing" your new 35ML in a very dark place.
You might be surprised. If it exceeds the spec try shooting a test roll.

I just found my empty Minox 35ML and tested it in near total darkness.
At ISO100 the maximum shutter speed is 1 second, as per the manual.
It appears the XA will continue to be your after dark pocket camera...
