Oslo's biggest camera store has this last week had it's annual in-shop show. Training courses, lectures, and of course discounted new and current gear.
Thursday I incidently saw an ad for a one day only offer for the X100 Black Edition, limited to 20 units. 40% off! Approx 1000 USD! Alright, that does it, I'm off to town! Got there and I saw someone 2 queue numbers in front of me run off with the last one! Dagnabbit!
I had been ogling the X-E1, and since I was more or less already committed to let a wad of cash go, I gave it a long look. End of story, I bought one with XF 18f2, for the same price as the kit 18-55. And an M-adapter of course.
Now to the big question, should I have taken a taxi, and not the buss?

Have fun w/ xe1
Even w/ the xp1, I find that the x100 still has a place.
- leaf shutter
-- silent
-- flash support at all speeds
- 35f2
- lighter
- aperture raw supported
I am hoping they release a x200 w/ the x-tran sensor.

I can imagine that being a nice pair. Which reminded me of a short vid I saw the other day, of Zack Arias in Mumbai. He did all his work, both fashion (on the street) and regular street with an X-Pro1 with the 18, 35 and 60, and an X100. No flashes, no bags, no nothing. All contained in his vest pockets.

I presume this was at Fotovideo, right?
I am just wondering if one can actually try the camera in the store?
Im thinking of getting the X-E1, but would like to have a go with it first

Fortunately they had a working sample, and two X-Pro1´s too. I was even luckier than most as there was a Fuji representative in the store who lent me his to walk around for a while. I was sold. Had to buy a X10 for the wife, or all hell would have broken lose.

Ok, thanks.
The X10 was a smart diversion

Ezzie....enjoy!!!
As a long time DSLR shooter I have never had as much fun and have been as inspired as with my Fuji cameras. At least not since my F3 that always felt right.
I think you made a great decision. You got into a brand new model and an expandable system. You got the same sensor as the x pro1.
I have a x pro 1 and an x10. Believe me, it;s a little monster and I used the excuse of "my wife" to make the purchase (and I am sticking to that story).
Nothing against the x100 at all, I have and continue to think about an x100 black at times however I will probably purchase an xE-1 instead. My only fear, even to this day of the x100 cameras in the sticky aperture issue and hopefully that has been totally cured.
My x10 never had orbs at least that I have found.
there is something about shooting with these cameras and i don't regret for one minute unloading my DSLR and other gear. A camera is always with me know so i say again....enjoy!!!

Thenk you John.
My blood did run a bit hotter when I first saw and eventually bought the R-D1. But all other digital cameras prior and since (incl a D2Xs) really did nothing for me. Competent cameras all off them, yet just that. The X-E1 however is a gem. At this rate I'll need a shutter replacement in no time. I bring it and my M4-2, or one of my MF cameras, with me all over. It lets me take pictures a DSLR wouldn't. People are not at all intimidated by it. And the files it outs out are endless in detail.
