More eeekbay madness?

KAS3 has good description with personal touch, there are cap and case, yet pictures show camera from all angles and these are good pictures compared to many other listings. "Adjusted for current cells" even if it only means cheap diode is soldered into, also attracts bidders. It's a good way to make listing.

RD also has decent pictures, but it's not clear who serviced it - recognized technician or tinkerer like me? 🙂

Konica S3, Vivitar 35ES, Yashica CC and CCN models are getting more expensive for ones in excellent condition.

Small compact cameras that still look like their larger brothers without the weight and can drop into a jacket pocket

Black finish just adds much more to the price

Supply and demand always adds to the total cost

I've got two or three ideas about all this price escalation:

1) The economy is getting better, and folks can afford these ridiculous prices.

2) It shows a healthy population of photo enthusiasts looking for good cameras to use, and not settling for the run of the mill models.

3) They're all just a bunch of blathering idiots with nothing better to do with their money.

'Eeekbay' (?) may have it's faults but at least you can actually sell an item for market value ... or not if you over price it!

I advertised a couple of OM Zuikos in the classifieds here at what I thought was a fair price and got zero response for two weeks. The same two lenses were gone in five days with an eBay auction and I got a little better than what I was asking for them here so subtract the fees and it was back to the price I actually wanted.

I don't like what happens on eBay occasionally but I do appreciate it's existence.

I agree that the final value of the fixed lens rangefinders were pretty extreme, but it does go to show how important condition is. As for the Leica hood, I think that one is pretty hard to find and with Leica, at least in recent years, there have been no rational bounds on price 🙂

Indeed, I once advertised a Fuji GW690ii here for $500. Not a whiff of interest. Got $691 on ebay.

Eeekbay is not as bad as the local second hand dealer here. When they try and charge $4999 for a Contax 645 kit and those who know the eeekbay will know I could pick up the same kit for at least $2k-3k less.

Funny though, that kit actually sold at that price a few months after I refused to buy it off them. 😀
