Hello Tom and all,
Wondering if it's me, or legit gripe with the MP dual function shutter button smoothness (mine has felt a bit "scatchy" since new compared to my M4 and M4-2 which are buttery smooth) The MP is my first light metered M so I'm wondering if this is inherent with Ms such as later M6s or M7?? Or does mine need attention?
Thanks for any insight!!

My M6 & M6ttls have never been scratchy. Maybe rust or dirt seeped in? Could be time for a CLA.

Thanks! Probably a minor annoyance as it's not sticking, just not as buttery smooth as earlier unmetered Ms. Hoping some MP users chime in.

Negative Nancy.
I never experienced this with the MP having used M2s and M3s. I've been known to be insensitive though, maybe this includes my fingers.

... likes film again.
Had the same problem with my former MP and it was fixed together with the faulty shutter, meter circuit and loose rewind knob.

The MP, like the M6 has a "notch" in the shaft for the release. This engages the meter circuit. It can be sticky - or simply require a bit more pressure to overcome. Usually it goes away with extended use - but if it doesn't - it can be adjusted by a technicians. Sometimes it can simply be dried lube/grease causing it, other times the small disc on the notch can twist and require more pressure.
My MP is perfectly smooth - but then it has seen a lot of use. A couple of my M6's are a bit stiff and you can feel the "notch" - usually requires a couple of rolls to settles in. I find that a softrelease smoothes out the action a bit too.

My M6TTL is smooth, like my M3; it is a longer throw to the button however when you go to push it down compared to the M3.

MP Shutter s M4Release v
Thanks Tom and all who responded, really appreciate the insight! I'm sending it in for Sherry to look at. Additional use doesn't seem to be clearing it up, in fact, in addition to the slight scratchyness, the throw seems to be getting longer as my finger tip has to get deeper into the well before the shutter releases. Thanks Again!!
