MP veiwfinder sealing

I got my eye on alexc's black mp in the classifieds, we both seem to be a little lost on one point. Were all of the mp veiwfinders dust sealed or just some of them, and if its just some of them was it from a sn on or ?

I think most later MP's were sealed, but my (very) early one did not have a sealed eyepiece. Mine is 2889xxx...it also has the M6 style ISO dial if that makes a difference. In any case, I bought mine new, so I just sent it back to the factory about a year after I bought it, and it has been perfect ever since (about 1.5-2 years ago).

What Stuart said - it was the earlier ones that exhibited the problem. Many earlier M7s have the problem too. Unfortunately you can't go by the serial nrs because in recent years Leica have not used serial nrs consecutively, they set aside a batch of serial nrs and then use that batch. It has resulted in a situation where some bodies with apparently "newer" serial nrs are in fact older than bodies with "older" serial nrs. If you get my drift...
