Yer tis,

http://www.winlens.de/index.php?id=70

just install predesigner and play to your hearts content

there is also winlens (see menu on left) though I'm not sure how much use that is unless you are actually designing lenses.

p.s. QIOPTIQ seems to be part of LINOS who own Rodenstock which is where the software comes from as far as I'm aware.

top tip.

When you start the software there are some check boxes at bottom of window. Select the one which says "show extra information". You can then see depth of field figures for then lens data you enter dependant on f-no or target CoC etc...

infact here are some standard paramters to make life easy:

Key Parameters Tab:

Conjugate Options:

tick "focal length" (lens focal length in mm)
tick "object distance" (your subject distance in mm)

Field Options:

tick "image height" (this is projected image height so is you film format height. 24mm for 135 film)

Aperture Options:

tick "F-Number"

note it won't allow you tick anything which is contradictory to what is currently ticked, so you need to untick an option before you can tick a contradictory option.

now you can set your lens, subject distance and film format values and see the DoField, DoFocus, near far limits, CoC etc.
Also you can change the CoC until you find the theoretical smallest possible for your F-No and other values.

Very interesting (if you are into that sort of thing).:)
