I need some suggestions for lenses. Open to any and all suggestions.

I'm going to add a F2 and F6 shortly.

First, Welcome to the forum.

Second, keep doing what you are doing. You seem to have a good eye for things. Might be cool to add some early Nikons and Canons.

Joe

F2 Nikons are the best film Nikons ever. Early Nikkormats are also good too.

D3 is a great digital. Use one is like pure perfection unless you need the x or s derivative. Never tried a D4. Nobody thinks well of D5.

Original Canon F1 was built tank like. Do not forget the German tank Leicaflexes.

More and more plastic leads to cheaper brittle plastic that will fail you in time and they say No parts available. Donor camera parts just as old.

Thanks much, I am actually a fan of the F5s.

Hi,

are these cameras still regularly used by you?
Or are you "only" a collector?

I am just asking because I feel sad when seeing such excellent cameras sitting unused in a cupboard.
Excellent cameras have to be used :). But that is just my humble opinion. I am not a collector.

Cheers, Jan

...at least they're in a display case, and not sitting in a box in somebody's attic, as most of these are now.

Hi tonyp1,
Welcome to the forum.
The rangefinder SLR you need to complete your collection is the Alpa.
The 4,6,and 8 have vertical rangefinders as well as a prism.
Not bad cameras either.

Lens suggestions...…...can't go wrong with 50mm....Literally tons of them out there. Excellent optically, lots of them in like new condition, relatively inexpensive, easy to find and easy to display due to size.

No 50th Anniversary F5!?

Those are some clean cameras! Thanks for sharing

Edit: Love that you have included the D300s, a really amazing camera often overlooked today.

Wow! Since you seem to have a taste for "The Ultimate", perhaps a 58/1.2 Noct-Nikkor would be a logical addition.

Excellent choice regarding the F6. The F6 is a robust professional tool and an excellent value since it is likely to outlive us and our grandchildren. Brand new ones are still available and I recommend all film enthusiasts buy one as it is an unsurpassed 35mm machine. In fact, I recently purchased my second!

Cheers, Robert

All of these cameras have very little use if any. The D300s is the lowest I believe the shutter count is 15. Lol

Not sure how robust they are. My perfect condition/never knocked/dropped/dinged F6 had its AF mechanism fail (started to front focus dramatically), which Nikon repaired for about $250. Very disappointing as I picked it for a shoot in a foreign country as I thought it would be my most solid 35mm SLR. Should have taken my F2AS. I'd expect the camera to be more reliable than this. I then heard of about 5 others that had the same issue.
Upside - Nikon USA still repairs them.

To the OP - lovely collection. Never tried a Canon F1, your's make it tempting!

Added a few F4s I always knew the F4 was the most important camera Nikon ever made. Seeing the picture of Ayrton Senna with a F4 made it a must have since I am a F1 FANATIC and this entire collection centers around cameras that where used by motorsports journalists. Moreover motorsports journalists that covered F1.

Two are mint one was sold as very light use.
