So, I got my Fed 2 today! In a nice stroke of luck, I also got my silver J-8 today. :D It is pretty much as nice as it looks in the picture. The rangefinder is spot on with the I-26, but the J-8 sits deeper, so I guess I'll have to adjust it for that, and then shim the I-26? Any thoughts on that are appreciated. The rangefinder aslo seems pretty good overall, a good clean will help.

I'm also going to swap the take up spool from the Fed 5. The top also needs to come off for an internal cleaning. Not too bad, but it would def. help.

The I-26 looks good, pretty clean, no real scratches. Looks like it needs a good polish, though. The barrel is kinda dirty.

The J-8 looks great, no suprises there, since it came from G'man! My first impressions are that I like this lens better than the either the 26 or the 61, especially b/c of the focusing ring. I have large hands, and sometime the its a little tough to get a good grip on the Industars. Plus it's a whole stop faster! :D

I love the way the 2 feels and works. Much better than the 5. I also think it looks great! I'll probably recover it soon, using the 5 as my lab rat since it's cover is coming off.

Overall, I really like the Russian stuff so far. Just finished the first roll with the 5, and will probably get a roll through the 2 in the next day or two.

Wow! They certainly look different with the nylon covering vs that hard vulcanite stuff that's on mine. Definitely get a leather kit from Aki Asahi. It'll improve the looks & the feel a lot.

I don't think Aki offers a covering for the Fed's w/o the strap lugs. Otherwise I probably would order one. I might just make something myself. I'm in the process of recovering my Fed 5 with some material from an old purse. Cost me $1.50. :) We'll see how that goes!

I hope to have some shots from the Fed 2 w/ the J-8 posted this afternoon. As long as my rangefinder adjustment went well, that is.
