Hello everybody, after lusting for a Leica for a very long time, I have finally bought one!
A Leica IIIc including a 50mm/f3.5 Elmar arrived Tuesday, and between work I've managed to shoot my first roll of tri-x with my new baby
Everything is in complete working order, I love the way it handles except I need to get used to the separate focusing window, but with the scale on the lens I think I'm pretty accurate so far.
As you can see I've got plenty rolls of tri-x, I will post some shots I took with it once I get some rolls developed
Greetings from The Netherlands!

It's a compact little package that you have there. All of your paparazzi friends will surely be jealous.

Me too !! IIIc ! Without Elmar...
a user, with chrome peeling...but for 104 euro...who cares?
Industar 61 and Kodak Gold inside for fast testing and 20 rolls of trix on the way from UK to Italy. I was introduced in LTM by a Zorki 1 (wonderful) and now I find myself much more comfortably shooting WITH rangefinder and viewfinder separate windows.
I will love to have a coated elmar to go with...in the meanwhile I bought an Industar 22 from Ukraine...
ciao

Nice looking combo!
I like using my IIf and Summitar with a external viewfinder. Keep a lookout for the SBOOI or Cosina version. Makes a ton of difference!

Since I've got my first Leica I've been carrying one with me every day.
Just beware the Leica Gear GAS!
"Oh, I'd like one of those lenses, oh I'd like one of those NOOKYs, oh I'd like one of those Bright Line Finders"
....So now I'm waiting for a IIIc to arrive. It'll go nicely with my other IIIc and IIIa.
Oh dear, I hear the men with the white coats knocking at the door....

Robbert,
I can quite see from the photographs but I think you may have got yourself a IIIf. Does it have a flash socket and a collar underneath the shutter dial?
Does it have a film speed indicator in the film advance knob?
If so you've done better than you thought!
Also the Elmar goes to f22 which is quite late, not red scale but another nice buy!
...and of course the tri x
Congratulations
Michael

Hi!
Yes there is a film speed indicator in the film advance knob; also when I turn it counter-clockwise it turns red.
It indeed also has a flash socket and underneath the shutter dial there's a sort of ring that can be turned, I guess that's the collar you are referring to.
The serial is 4394XX
I paid 300 Euro's for both the camera, the lens and a Yellow filter including the original package for the filter.
So this is a IIIf? Thanks for informing me!
I'm on my third roll now
On tuesday I get back the negatives of my other rolls. I can't wait to see if I correctly exposed the shots

The 1st Leica is the best , though my 1st IIIC body had lazy blinds .
The serial number is 1946/7 IIIc , which has certainly been converted to IIIf - which would have entailed an entire new shutter assembly - something unheard of in today's market .
It may have the later ''red dial '' shutter with red flash sync numbers around the shutter dial [ I don't understand how they work ! ] his would effectively update it to post 1952
A Leica however was a considerable investment in the 40s , so upgrades were a good investment .
No matter , any Leica III is a delight - enjoy

I got my first Leica (IIIC) RF yesterday too!
Very nice user grade from KEH... not exactly a great deal to brag about, but a solid deal from a reliable dealer.
I haven't scanned my first shots (fromt his morning), but the proofs look great.
Also got a Color-Skopar 50/2.5... very impressed so far.
Now that I tested that combo I'll go back with my Industar-22... so I can put it in my pocket.
Have fun!

I'd say 300 Euro for the package is a good deal!

Congratulations! I also received a IIIC last month and it works faultlessly! Love the shutter sound. Had a roll of Pan F film through it and the pix were great!..always worried about holes in curtains. Matched it with a Summar and was very happy with the results. Es lebe der Leica!

I just got my "new" iiif back from Youxin. He did a CLA on the camera and lens and put in new shutter curtains. It is a beautiful camera.
