I shoot, Therefore I am..
dunno if this is the correct sub-forum to post this thread... i recently purchased a Zeiss ikon from a japanese online shop (Matsuiya store), the transaction was smooth 2 days ago until i tracked my parcel today. it never even reached the singapore shores, from tokyo, it was stated "return to sender" dated 30th october 2012, and today states "final delivery" which means back to the seller's store.
from what i've seen online, Matsuiya is a reputable online shop... does anybody here experienced the same transacting with them?
any suggestions, what to do? i've already emailed the seller, but no response as of yet.
very Disappointed, am planning to use the cam to shoot a fire walking event!

Very surprised you've had this problem. While I can't offer much in advice, I have dealt with Matsuiyastore before. I bought my RD1 body from them, admittedly it was about five years ago. I'm based in the UK and it arrived in less than three days, super service by anyone's standard. Perhaps the problem lies with the postal / delivery / customs service. Certainly not unheard of. Many members here have used Matsuiyastore and generally can't praise them enough. Hopefully its just a postal glitch and you manage to get it sorted.

Since it never left Japan , perhaps the customs paperwork was not correct .
They can probably reship it to you .

i really do hope so... now, this reply was very encouraging! thanks enasniearth... at least i am not so worried now, cos i would prefer to get the cam rather than refund.

thanks Paul, i am crossing my fingers that it's just a postal glitch and as enasniearth have stated, probably "they will resend it"... i am really really hoping they would do that...

I've purchased quite a few items from him, always without incident. Just send him a message - he is very responsive!

Same here bought some items from them and so far smooth and good communication, never had an issue. Maybe they are still checking the whereabouts of the item.

I bought a lens from Matsuiya store last year and got it shipped to India - totally smooth and easy transaction. They are very helpful and respond quickly to msgs. All the best - I hope things work out.

A BIG thank you to all for sharing your experiences, it lifts a heavy feel from an anxious buyer like me... just an update, Mr. Noriaki of Matsuiya sent me an email earlier this evening saying that my item was already re-sent under a new tracking number! EMS tracking indicates that it's on its way to Tokyo!
hope everything goes well this time!

He's great, and furthermore I once had a problem with a brand new item bought from him (actually a Zeiss Ikon too) and it had to be sent back and replaced. I believe he dispatched the replacement BEFORE he received my returned item back. Excellent service.

I'm sure the sender is aware, but you can't ship a camera out of Japan if it has a battery currently in it, or in the package with it.

Hi guys, i received the camera from Matsuiya store today!
now, that is FAST!!! thanks for sharing your experiences... still, am curious what happened to your parcel which was "sent to wrong address" Raytoie?

Good to see that Matsuiya Store solved the issue quickly. Did they explain what happened?
Did your camera have batteries in it when it arrived? Batteries can be a problem with Japan Post. They don't allow the shipping of batteries by air. If batteries were left in the camera the first time round, customs may have spotted them and returned the package.
hi Jonmanjiro, i suppose you are correct with the battery thingy... my cam came without battery, the manager from matsuiya emailed me yesterday saying that there were some hiccups in the postal service but did not explained it specifically.

Japan Post has changed some rules recently and it is causing a lot of grief for a lot of businesses shipping stuff overseas.
