I stumbled on the last few steps of a staircase, fell hands and knees first with the camera around my neck in a rather long neck strap. I avoided injuries myself but the M240, with a Voigtlander 15mm f4.5 v1 on it, hit the ground - only slightly I thought at the time.
But the LCD, which has no cracks, no longer works. I'm able to take shots, change the ISO, etc. But now how do I dive into the menus to set the lens to "unknown"? Apart from that, I'm happy with my current DNG-only settings.
The lens' built in petal hood got slightly bent but the lens is safe. Phew.
Is it worth getting an electronic viewfinder? I read that the menus are only on the LCD.
Has anyone gotten their LCD repaired? What would it cost me to get it repaired? I never used Live view, to be honest...

viewfinder is quite delicate and can get knocked out of alignment. obviously not a problem with that lens, but might be good to check anyways.
Leica service is not cheap, perhaps contact and ask them directly?

Have you tried removing and reinserting the battery? I don't know why that would work, but it seems worth trying.

No access to the menu in evf but you can look up status i.e. lens, iso, ev correction and such. With knowledge of layout of the menu you may be able to adjust needed specs. Lens selection is first thing when you hit menu button.

Yes, I tried that but no change.
I contacted the local Leica dealer and they say they'll have to send it to Germany.
I don't think I'll do that. I'd rather use it as it is...
Thanks to everyone who replied.

Update: I requested an estimate for the cost of LCD replacement (worst case scenario), and the reply from Germany is EUR 1000. It's not clear if that includes service charges.
To get it sent and evaluated will cost a max of USD 120 (one-way shipping charges; the dealer pays the return shipping).
