I've always been a fan of Minolta gear, and made the mistake of wandering by an auction site when I scored an AF-Sv for .99 (with a few bucks for shipping). The camera is in great shape, and came with the cover. The talker can be set for English or Japanese - mine being set to Japanese for my own entertainment. Still running a test roll through now, but does/has anyone owned one of these little beasties? I'm not sure what to expect as far as image quality or durability go. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

The Talker is a quite reasonable performer. I don't have anything scanned right now, but I see good results out of it. The autofocus is a little finicky, but on P&S cameras this old, that's to be expected. I own two of them and both perform admirably for their age. The build quality is quite good. Not quite as good as, say, a Ricoh FF-90, but they're rugged enough.

Used to use The Talker quite a bit. Always produced great results. I'm sure your's will as well, especially at a $0.99 price point.

Wish I'd known about the Japanese setting on those. Almost bought one at Goodwill one day, but then figured I already had too many P&S cameras.

"Use Flash", "Load Film", "Check Distance". There's English/Japanese, Italian/English, and French/German as far as I know. The Italian and French ones fetch a premium. It's real speech synthesis, not a voice chip, so sounds delightfully computer-ish.
