I recently purchased a III with a couple of lenses, and had it sent off to Youxin to work his magic. Got it back today, and all I can say is WOW. It's so quiet, so smooth, so refined, so... perfect. I thought my IIf was fantastic but even it pales in comparison with this beauty. Silky smooth advance, very very quiet shutter, crisp rangefinder.

As a bonus, Youxin fixed the rough focusing Elmar 90/4 for free and proclaimed it 'very good'. It's also silky smooth, almost too easy to focus, a bare nudge is all it takes.

My IIf and just-won Summitar are going there next, now that I have seen what a well serviced Leica feels like there's no going back. :)
 
I noticed that too, and I love it. :) These cameras deserve to be used, and it seems like they'll outlast quite a few generations of us...
 
Your III is as quiet as your IIf? Did Youxin put in shutter brakes?

I ask because I wouldn't mind having my IIIa made quieter.

It's actually quieter, definitely on the slower (1-50 down) speeds. But I don't know when the IIf RD was last serviced. I just paid for a regular CLA, so I don't think he did any more work.
 
Im about to go out to a beer fest for a couple hours, when i get back I may just check out KEH for my own Barnack. Gotta get a few brews in me first though to hit the add to cart button.
 
If they still have it... I saw on there earlier a III with 'shutter speeds off' for $149 or so. If it just needs a CLA that's a pretty sweet deal.
