My new toy / alter ego

Actually Sat eve when I got back from my hike.
That had to be a great surprise.

My brother had one similar just sitting around his office. He inherited it from his father-in-law. I asked about it (I don't know much about the Leica line), his repsonse was, "oh.. yeah... they're old, I am not even sure if they work" (he is a retired Washington Post Photographer- long accustomed to using Nikon SLRs)

I have found myself wondering if he still has them and if he would like to part with one. I do believe one was an M series camera.

I'm sure we're looking at the lens. Remember Jorge wanted to sell his MP or trade it for an M6 before finding out it's something of a collectible on account of the back wheel?

Now... that camera looks positively gorgeous with that big silver lens. All of mine are black, so my silver Leica looks strange all the time.

It just needs a nifty silver Summilux.

Congratulations, Jorge!! :)

That sure does look like a 2.8/21mm Elmarit ASPH to me! I also had assumed it was the whole package that was new, but Francisco's reminder cleared that up I think. That's a lens to dream for!

You know, all this confusion could have been avoided with a little more specifics in the original post.

confusion? I'm not confused. I was showing off my new desk :)

A couple of days ago I posted I was getting the 21. It is a 21 asph without the finder. I really need that finder now. I shot a couple of pictures in the house this morning. Need to develop them.

Oh well. All I can say is that it feels just perfect when holding it. You cant beat a rangefinder ! Cant wait for that digital M whenever it comes out. at least I will have my arssenal of lenses by that time.

Mmmmmmmmm, I would really like that lens. I have come to the decision that the wide angle lenses that I like shooting are the 21 and 35mm lenses. I have the VC 21, and even though it is miniscule and performs pretty well, it feels so slow -- there is a lot of vignetting unless you stop down a bit, and it just doesn't hold a candle to the other lenses in my kit...the 21 ASPH would be a great addition, but so pricey for such a specialized lens! I wonder how the 21 biogon will be....

I'd like to find that out too... I was looking for a faster 21mm and couldn't quite manage the Elmarit ASPH, but it looked like there might be one of equivalent quality in the Contax G line... even when the Contax body was included too! That led to a GAS attack and now I'm "into" the Contax G system. That 21mm Biogon G is indeed a gem, and we can hope the Biogon ZM is as good. Example below, with yellow-green filter on Ilford XP2...

It's a beauty Jorge!

I am tempted by the call of a new MP. But then again, I take pride that I do not own any camera in current production. Not that it is any cheaper, it just makes it a little harder to blow large wads of money by walking into any camera store.
