I began my search for love in all the usual places, my first love was an Olympus stylus, smooth, sensual, obedient ( except for that d**m flash).

Then I fell in with a crowd at a place called RFF. I hung around with the fixed lens group for a while but soon wanted more. I moved to FSUs and interchangeable lenses.

Finally the siren call could not be resisted and I bought a Leica, in fact I bought and (gasp) sold many fine Leica. Wonderful, sensual, with a shutter sound like a kiss on the cheek.

But a film shoot with a Leica was like a cozy dinner and evening with a special friend, and then waking in the morning and finding all the pots, pans and dirty dishes in the sink. Rolls of unprocessed film, spiral reels, tanks, measuring cups, beakers, chemicals, thermometers and the timer.

I tried digital with a few disappointing point & shoots and impersonal DSLRs. Nothing.

Was it all worth it?

But then, EUREKA, down from Mount Olympus, into the hands of man, came the Pen digital series, the E-P1, E-PL1 and the rest of the family. It fit the hand perfectly, it looked like a camera. It looked, dare I say it, like a rangefinder. The shutter sounded like a kiss on the cheek, a bit mechanical but sweet.

I found love.

There will be naysayers, but:

I sold my Canon DSLR gear for an EP-1 because it fits with my rangefinders in both size and shape. Now I can carry both.

but those dudes up on mount Olympus forgot to put in something to peek through - when we hold it to our fevered brow!, so I sent it straight back up there! :D
 
I know how you feel. I really like the 20/1.7 on my GF1, but since getting the EP2 with EVF I have been shooting nothing but assorted manual focus lenses and loving it. Looks good, feels good, functional. A few examples in my m4/3 gallery.

i think the rd1 is my perfect camera...but if i had to, i could live happily ever after with the g1/gf1 combo and my 2 panasonic lenses.

congrats on achieving your feeling of satisfaction.

Funny, I'm on the same course as you. First SLR (Nikon), then Russian FED, now Leica screw mounts. I've been having fun at this point so far. I have a digital Kodak P&S, but that's only useful for putting up unwanted stuff on ebay.

My main nit pick is that you attributed "Smoke gets in your eyes" to the Platters. It was written by Jerome Kern, and lyrics are by Otto Harbach, for their operetta "Roberta". This was later made into a movie of the same name, featuring Irene Dunne, Randolph Scott, and a pair of dancers by the name of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers.

To paraphrase, "haze gets in my Elmars...."
 
I've got E-PL1 and 20mm. I can use my LTM/M lenses with the body, but 20mm is really all I need for this tiny package.

Well, the platters is the only version I know so I used it. My apologies to kern etal.:)

I have the M mount converter but did not like the focusing so I sent it back. I also returned the 14-44 zoom lens as I could not see any advantage to it. The 17mm pancake is just fine for my shooting.
