so, what did i accidentally click? window pops up on the shot, saying, "sd storing," and showing three copies of the shot just made ...

there's image/color profile bracketing, which saves 3 copies of the same shot, with different settings, provia, sensia, velvia, maybe that?

Since you w know how where the braceting menu is, exposure bracketing can be useful... especially when shooting jpegs.

turned out it was burst mode. but i almost always bracket with the EV dial anyhow.

Presumably Arjay's told you to lock the command dial with a long press on the OK button. Burst mode is the first item in the menu and it isn't hard to accidentally activate it.

Oh man...I've only had the X100 for a few days so still figuring out the quirks, but THANK YOU. This made my day. I keep accidentally turning on the flash and stuff. I've been very happy with mine so far, but this will make the experience much more enjoyable.
