There seems to be some metal flange sticking out of the lens barrel, any ideas what its purpose might be?

The seller doesn't say what the serial number is, and the pictures are far too poor to make one out. I did ask him a question on this subject yesterday, but he has not responded.

Not sure, could be a goggled 35 intended for the M3 with the goggles removed.

This is a M3 rangefinder version of a 35mm lens with the optical googles removed. The googles would normally allow you to see the converted 35mm frame within the M3 finder 50mm frame.

Unless the focus cam has been re-ground ( probably not) this lens will not focus properly without the googles. Sometimes a set of googles show up separately on ebay, but it may be a long wait.

I dunno, I thought that the attachment thing for the goggles was a flat area parallel to the outside circumference of the lens, not sticking out from the body.

Maybe its just me, though.

There is no such thing as a "slight cam adjustment". The lens would need to be taken apart, the cam machined and collimated to focus properly without the googels, and you would still have the M-mount flange with the google adapter sticking out from the lens. And... as a couple others have said, you still are hoping there are no other problems with a seller that doesn't know his equipment. Best case? The lens does not have any problems, you get it for cheap-cheap, and find a spare google to screw on. The cheap-cheap may be the only thing you get, and without the other two - good luck.
