Back in the eighties, my father was given a recipe for an a-b developer that behaved like diafine, but worked flawlessly at the box speed on film, using hp5 and tmax. It lasted forever, and required no replenishment. Unfortunately, it was left in an attic for a decade, and I don't trust it. I asked my dad about it, and he said he has lost the recipe. Any idea what we may have been using?

Could it be Barry Thornton's Two Bath Formula?

Bath A: Metol 6.5g, Sodium Sulphite 80g, 1L water
Bath B: Sodium Metaborate 12g, 1L water

From "Edge of Darkness," p. 95.
