Mystery Canon Meter

Hi there. Long time lurker, first time poster.

Firstly let me say I love this forum and its wealth of knowledge and advice.

The other day I was rummaging in a drawer and found a "Canon Meter" I'd acquired a few years ago and totally forgotten about. I have no idea what it was originally intended for and have managed to find nothing on the internet similar other than the "Canon Meter 3" and "Canon Meter 4". This one has no accessory shoe mount, just an unusual slide / clip.



Can anyone shed some light for me?

Interesting find. I can't see anything like it in Bob Shell's "Canon Compendium" or my Wallace Heaton Blue Books.

Could the side clip allow it to fit on a first type Canon 7? That would be weird, as the 7 has a built in meter, Perhaps they were considering a 7 without a meter but still using the accessory fitting.

Yeah it has me stumped. There are no identifying markings other than "Canon Japan" and "-0-" on the black underside.
One other thing I found interesting is that the Din scale goes all the way to 3200.
