Name of a panoramic-type device

The other day I saw a guy using a 35mm camera attached to a funnel-shaped device . The camera is used by putting it on a tripod and pointing it up. The funnel-shaped devoice has a mirrored surface on the outside and allows a photo to be made of a 360 degree circle around the camera.

Does anybody know what this thing is called? Searching for a, "funnel shaped thingy" isn't very successful.

I don't think I would pay that much for it, but I recall seeing an article somewhere describing how to make one from a Leggs hosiery container.
