Hi all. I've got two different processing of the same image. One color, one B&W. Basically what I want to know is do you like it better in color or B&W?

Anyway here are the two shots.

I'm always the odd one out. I usually prefer b/w. But I think both can stand on their own. I think the large blank wall doesn't add much. Have you tried cropping to closer to the character on the wall?

i don't like b&w. so i'm going to pick color, because i think it looks nicer anyways. the contrast between the lady's gray hair and face and the blue blanket v. pink shoes stand out more.

Hi jbf,

I'm for the colour (or color?) because of the way the lady's face matches the tint of the wall and the pink of the shoes being repeated in the pink dress.

Happy shooting,

Dirk

First of all, nice picture.

My advice is to not ask others for advice like this.

At the end of the day, "an artist" should just go with their gut feeling of how the picture should look.

As much as I do like B&W, I prefer the color image...
The colors are soft and the pattern on the baby's pouch allows it to stand out against the wall...the people in the background don't really hurt the picture since they are a bit out of focus and in the shade more...
I like the color of the tiles and the patterns they bring to the photo...

The color image is just a snapshot. The B&W shot is far better..

No question in my mind jbf, there is more suggestiveness and possibility in the B+W image. Accordingly I prefer it. But you must put it out into the world as yours, just as someone else remarked.

I have to agree with sleepy head, BUT, you're a young guy asking for advice, you'll learn fast.

Actually, I think it's a great idea to ask for advice. It's just how you take that advice that matters. Personaly I take it with a grain of salt. The main reasons I ask is to see what others feel when they see those two images mainly. I then deicde how I feel in relation to others. :)
