Hi Marvik

I sent mine to Nikon on Long Island (NY) and they repaired it under warrantee.

Just an FYI to others thinking of this lens. The optics are great. Superb in fact. The build however is a piece of garbage.

Mine literally fell apart in my hands. Even after a fix that Nikon claims brings it up to spec there is a wobble in the housing.

I've never been one to pamper my equipment. It's a tool. But with this lens I feel like I have a sick child. It's the only piece of photo equipment I've ever had that has broken. It's a shame because instead of thinking about getting a shot I nows think about whether my thousand dollar glass will survive the shoot.

Hi dave i now and you right regarding the build quality is not that fine but the only problem i have is that i live in the middle of the Mediterranean sea Malta is in Europe and the island is so small that you can't find every thing and to send the lens out side and insurance plus postage the cost of the fix well rise to the point to tell you the truth you better to buy a new lens and that's why i ask for the service manual and were i can buy part's for it maybe i can fix it myself ?

Ah, sorry I couldn't be of more help.

I would say parts depends on what is wrong with it. Service manual, of course I would try contacting Nikon first.

If in fact it is 'beyond repair' because of price, sell it on eBay for parts. Depending on what is wrong you could get a few hundred dollars and someone will still consider that a bargain even if they have to pay to fix it.

Good luck

d

PS, you might try writing Nikon and explaining your situation. They are pretty customer service driven and I don;t think they like reports that their lenses actually suck. Especially new, expensive ones that are supposed to be very good.

hi thanks for your support and i well try to contact Nikon uk first thing in the morning and all i have is simply the inner tube that comes out that's out of place or maybe broking all i need is that tube and how to dismantle and assembly the lens i try to find how to for this lens but no luck also on ebay but tomorrow i try my luck with nikon uk thanks for all happy Christmas and new year to both of you and your family's two
