Some serious hints are indicating me that Cosina will introduce a new 24mm f2.0 lens at Photokina. No informations about which mount. Might be a M or LTM (Voigtländer oder Zeiss ZM branded), or a Nikon F mount (Zeiss ZF). My personal guess: it's a new Voigtländer M-mount lens.

Would be great.

28mm would be better, but still nice to see some fast lenses.

There's already a Voigtländer 28mm f1.9 Ultron in Leica Screw mount. The 24mm is most probably intended for the Epson R-D1/R-D1s (crop factor 1.5=36mm) and Leica M8 (cropfactor 1.33=32mm) digital rangefinder cameras - but of course usable as 24mm on film cameras, too.

Why f/2?

With Stephen Gandy's posts "How many 24mm's are there, faster than f/2" I don't think it is THAT farfetched to exspect this lens to be faster than f/2...

If it's going to be Voigtlander, I think f/1.9 makes more sense anyway. I know, just a minor difference, but f/2 would really surprise me.

Maybe a ZF 24 1.4? But... I don't want to think about a price of such beast...

You might be right with f1.9

Less likely. And the size would be even bigger than the price...

Some Voigtlander importer asked on an RF type email list if anyone could list 24mm lenses faster than f/2.0, other than the Canon f/1.4. His site uses this kind of info to raise excitement about unique CV lenses like the 35 f/1.2 and 28 f/1.9. So this question makes Didier and others wonder just a bit what's coming along that needs a bit of trumpeting... I speculate about a 25mm f/1.8 or f/1.9 Voigtlander Ultron in M-mount because this vendor is not a Zeiss dealer. And a 24 or 25mm f/1.2 or f/1.5 Nokton would be just too phenomenal. 🙂

You mean Gandy? It's already been mentioned in this thread.

If its distagon for ZF, I would be very pleased, my FM3a with D200 will love it 🙂

You have a FM3a with a D200 on? WOW! Which one is the lens? 😀
A ZF or ZM is rather unlikely. I believe it's a Voigtländer M oder LTM mount lens.

Yes, you're right. I'm not exspecting a 24 1.4 ZF (rather a 28 2.0), and since Stephen Gandy is no longer a Zeiss dealer he wouldn't hint at it, in my opinion.

My crystal ball is working well. When the 25 f 4.0 was diccontinued a few months back, I predicted a faster version around the corner.

I am happy with the small screw mount I can use on my 111f and 111c. Undoubtedly the new will be a bayonet not backwards compatable.

But then a RF coupled one would be nice if it was not too big.

My favorite wides have been 24 and 35.

i would be EXTREMELY happy if they gave us a fast 24 or 25mm. That is the main wide that i want, and the only thing that had me looking to Zeiss or Leica- the FASTER wides than Cosina's offerings.

My thoughts exactly, for several reasons.

The Conspiracy Theory: Pull the non-coupled f 4.0 so as not to compete with the Zeiss 25 f 2.8.

Roll out a faster, RF coupled 24-25 and have a niche product all by themselves. Before Leica produces a 24mm (M8=32mm) Summicron. I hope it's not too fast and therefore too big.

Maybe I can stop dreaming and drooling about a Canon 24/1.4 for the SLRs.

Maybe one should never buy photographic equipment in the first 3 quarters of even numbered years?😉

No fast 24

No fast 24

Stephen Gandy unhinted my rumour:

"I am not hinting at a fast Voigtlander 24."

Sorry for that guys I was quite shure 🙁
(And would have ordered it immediately)
