Hi,

I'm feeling much more at home here at RFF now that I've tripled my rangefinder collection in the last couple of weeks.

First of all I managed to bag a black Canonet G-III QL17 at a charity shop for £10. Looks immaculate and apparently worked so I ordered some light seals from Jon Goodman. Further investigation revealed an odd shutter problem based on the angle the camera was held at so it's now in the local repair shop getting a good going over (and new light seals to boot).

This week I managed to get a Konica C35 Automatic for £4 from another charity shop (in fact I paid £24 for that plus a Canon A-1 with a 50/1.4 !!!). This one had a big impact near the flash socket though. I opened the top and reattached the front viewfinder glass (after a good clean) but the frame lines inside seem to flop over to one side occasionally so something else must be loose inside. I'll also try and doctor the, now spare, QL17 light seal kit to fix this one.

Anyone got any idea how easy it is to remove dents from the top plate on these cameras?

Welcome to the forum Ronnie. There was some discussion on how to remove dings and dents, some years ago now. The consensus was to use something relatively soft and benign wood and coax the shape gently from the inside. metal to metal, especially on the outside, will damage the finish.

Thanks Zuikologist. I've been in the forum for a while but mostly as an 'imposter' with lots of SLRs and only one rangefinder (Zorki 4).
