I finally finished getting off all of the Vulcanite or artificial leather or whatever it was on my 1959 Minolta Autocord. The black paint trim is still halfway decent but the Vulcanite was all cracked and flaking off. Cameraleather.com has some black replacement coverings that match or come close to matching the original. They also have lots of colors and exotic leathers. I'm not likely to spring for an expensive lizard skin but just a nice solid color might be fun.

Does anybody have any suggestions as to what color might "look cool" or stand out in a crowd? I'm not in the least concerned about people thinking me a bit odd. I'm well past that point...LOL

Thanks for your suggestions, folks!

Are you trying to make it look like a Lomo camera (as in LSI)? :)

Purple, Electric Blue, Pink, Yellow all these would make you stand out in a crowd :)

I vote for a Maroon color leather...if my Yashicamat ever needs a new cover that's what I would go with...

The two colors I like a lot are a deep forest green or a saddle tan orange. I like how they complement the black paint on the body.

I just got a baby rollei refinished in blue leather. Let me see if I can post an Ebay pic. I think I'd have preferred the original grey or just basic black, but in all honesty it's not something that I think too much about...

Dang Keith!

That makes me want to suggest yellow leather with gold plated metal parts. But actually I like the look of blue leathered cameras. Especially if it's got a good share of chrome on it. Otoh, black metal looks good with red leather.

But I gotta tell you, the concept of wrapping it in marijuana sounds good.

Real good.

I think the most stylish, classiest, and most aesthetically pleasing color you could choose would be Grey, particularly if it is a true Grey, a Blue-Grey or a Green-grey. Think of all of the grey-leather medium format cameras that have been issued over the years. ALL of them are fanrtastic looking, yet still quite subtle.

If I had to nominate a Non-Grey color, it would be Burgundy, just because it exudes taste.

On a serious note ... I would have thought that considering Al's location Croc or Alligator skin would be the go! :)

Mukul, cannibus green? Keith, croc or 'gator? Let's see, crocodile is listed as an endangered species, alligators I think have been upgraded to merely "threatened", but both are sort of a dull greyish green, not too different really than the dried cannibus bud I photographed (scanned, actually) and posted on my blog a couple of weeks ago. Actually I was kind of leaning toward the red/maroon direction so if I set it down anyplace other than next to a rose or hibiscus bush I'd find it easily.

To be fair to dwellers of all time zones I think I should give this 24 hours before seeing what Cameraleather has that lines up with the consensus. Stay tuned! ...and THANKS!
