The new Fuji / Voigtlander folder looks to be very well made, has an incredibly quiet shutter, and by FAR the best RF/VF ever put in a folding RF, along with silicon metering for metered manual or AE priority exposure. Electronic shutter 4 to 1/500 sec. The dual format 6x6 or 6x7 camera at first glance seems to be a winner.

I met with Mr. Kobayashi today. What is undecided at the moment is the future sales situation. It may or may not be officially sold outside of Japan -- it is simply not decided yet. Those details should be worked out in the next couple of weeks.

In the meantime I am accepting buyers on a 667 waiting list. Email me at Stephen@CameraQuest.com if you want to be on the list. No deposits until all the sales details are known.

Thanks
Stephen

stephen,

i guess i don't fully understand foreign business models well enough but why would a company that already sells their products here choose not to sell a specific product here? i mean, how much more work could it possibly be to send it to their vendors here in the state to customers who really want it? so what, they have to print a manual in english and change some lettering on the camera. doesn't seem very difficult to achieve.

confused,
chris

I now use a 6x6 folder with an uncoupled RF in my travel kit.
It captures landscapes with a 35mm RF in hand while I'm moving.
A metered 6x7 with a kickin' coupled RF/VF would be a nice upgrade.

I just realized, if I can get this in silver/black, my (blind to all things photographic) wife will think it's just that old Soviet (Iskra) folding out camera thingie that I've been carrying around!
Stealth major camera buy! Wooohooo!:angel:

This camera has a leaf shutter. Forget about TTL metering.

To create a TTL metering system would be very complex. And once someone asks why, I'll quote my own message from APUG.

Listing message sent as well.

Gah, how am I going to scrounge the money for this???

My response to you, is just where did you get the information that the camera does indeed have a leaf shutter? I have yet to see any solid information from fuji or cosina on official specs of this camera.

this type of camera traditionaly had a leaf shutter and I expect that is the case here which is fine with me because I like them. I would be very interested in such a camera later on when my finances equal out and more info about the unit comes out.

Have added my name to Stephen's list and am interested in finding out what the approximate price is likely to be. Hope it does make it out of Japan!
