New fw for a7 family and a6000

Yup. New video format for the a6000, and very significant improvement to the start up time of both cameras (obviously they switched from cold booting to a cached start).

Updating now.. I wish Sony did not use a computer based fw updater.. They always make me a bit nervous since my iMac does not have a ups :(..

After updating my a6000, the aftermarket batteries (Vivitar NP-FW50 Li) no longer work. As much as I like this camera (a lot) it will be my last Sony.

Just because of an US$16,99 item not functioning?

Original batteries still are flawless (I've got three of those) and they are just US$49,95, it is a slight inconvenience. And Nikon, Apple, Canon etc. aren't any better.....

I have 4 different type of aftermarket batteries and they are all working fine after fw udpate on both two A6000 bodies.

My after-market battery from 2011 works on the A7rii and A7 with FW 2.0 - have you tried other third-party batteries on the A6000?

All my after-market batteries still work, among them some that I got with the original Nex-5.

I highly recommend Wasabi Power batteries (and chargers) -- fast charging and long lasting. I use them for my A7R and my D800e's.
