I've been shooting digital SLR's for a couple years now. Started with a Canon Digital Rebel, then picked up a used 1D, then a 20D, plus some lenses.

My Canon A1 that i've had since 1984 collected a lot of dust. Digital was great, but I kinda missed film. So a few months back I picked up a used Bessa-R and CV 35/1.7, you know, just for fun. All my friends had tried one. It was the first time I used a RF, and I figured I could just use it for a little while, then resell the gear. But it was not to be. I liked the size (or lack thereof) compared to my Canon gear (even the A1), and focusing was GREAT even in low light.

And so it started. The Bessa turned out to be a "gateway camera." Over the past few weeks, the 20D and half my Canon lens collection has been sold. It their place, I've picked up a CV 50/1.5, and 28/4, and now, I've bought a second-hand M6. And a Leica 90mm Elmarit (new version with built-in hood). And a film scanner. And why stick to film? There's an R-D1 (or other digital RF) in my future. There's nothing I can do about it.

The Leica/RF addiction has taken hold. I fear I'm doomed. The worst part is that my daughter has picked up the Bessa-R, and soon she'll be hooked, too. Let my sad tale be a warning to the rest. When tempted by a Bessa or other economically priced RF, remember my fate, and JUST SAY NO.

Welcome Rcomas!

So you got hooked :) Your story is the same as mine (and many others here): I also sold my sleeping Canon SLR (film) for a Bessa, and now im getting into Leicas. Just bought a Summicron and are looking for a M2 or M4. Love the feeling of the mechanics and the picture quality. If the Leica road is my last in film gear, before film vanishes, then it is the shurely the road to follow! SAY YES :D Fun to have you here!

Welcome to the forum rcomas! :) There is only one thing worse than what you did and that is to jump into Leica right away, and of course that's what I did... Then I stupidly tried to interest one of my kids (an FM2 owner) in the Leica but so far she hasn't bitten - phew! As you probably realize you have landed into a pit with like-minded souls so there is very little chance you will crawl out of it. ;) No-one will encourage sanity and all will urge you to buy more and more gear. If you thought you were doomed before you joined you are truly doomed now!
