New lens for my Leica

Decided I wanted to try out my M3 with something a bit longer than the 50' cron I've been using so far and picked up an Elmarit 90/2.8 from 1964 (same year as my M3 and two years later than my 50 'cron).

I was happy to see that it didn't have any fogging/fungus and that all movements are very tight and smooth.

I'm going through a bit of health-challenges at the moment so this was sort of a spot of light in all the crumminess.

Will be fun to take it out maybe this coming weekend for a bit.
 
Beautiful lens. I have a Tele-Elmarit M that I just love. The elmarits give a gorgeous image. I think you will really like the way that it can be sharp and forgiving at the same time. It also isolates subjects beautifully.

And I think that your first pic of it is one of the nicest lens photos I've seen! Pity there was no coffee. ;)

Looking forward to seeing some shots, though.

BTW, I got an Elmar C (90/4) recently, in "user" condition (a bit cosmetically challenged) - but it was't expensive (about $200). I'd prefer a 2.8, though, since I tend to shoot in available light... Still, the images I got from mine are just fine. Good bokeh, sharp - just the thing for portraits.

Definately a great match for your M3.

And do get better, hopefully that walk will help.
 
Beautiful Lens! I have the 90mm F4 Elmar, which I love. Those 90mm lines on the M3 are too nice not to fire-up. You will get some nice portraits of your wonderful wife who must have reversed her "no more gear for the year" stand!

I hope all goes well with your health issues.

Nice lens Rich. Can't wait to see some pics from it, as its one lens I'm considering right now. And nice shot of the lens to boot.

Get well soon, Richard! :) I have a (thin) Tele-Elmarit 90/2.8 and love it. A little susceptible to flare but a proper hood fixes that.

Is this lens heavy? Looks like it might be...

BTW, some of the Leica purists in that forum you also hang out at, consider the TE one of Leica's best lenses. Got a winner there! :)

Rich, very nice looking lens, appearing to be like new condition. Maybe the silver color has an effect here, but it sure looks long. I only have my black 'fat' Tele-Elmarit to look normal to me.
