New super wide M mount lenses announced

So far, I am very happy with the CV Super Wide-Heliar III 4.5/15 and the Zeiss Distagon 4/18. But I am also happy to see that the Chinese 'newcomers' are pushing the boundaries and will check for performance updates. Thanks for sharing.

The small lens size is one of the most important factors for buying Leica, CV, or Zeiss lenses.

M-mount is becoming a new universal mirrorless mount. Users of CaNiSonic will find the size reasonable. I assume these will not be RF coupled, unnecessary for UWA.

UWA lenses are "interesting". How often do people use them? I have an 18mm Leica FF lens, and use it maybe, ohh, once every few years for a couple of pics.
Guess I'm not in the market!

When the VC 15mm first came out I bought one. After shooting it for 6 months the pictures all had a certain sameness. I got some interesting pictures but once the novelty wore off it never got used. I have a Nikkor 16mm AI full frame fisheye that I use a few times a year that delivers better results. A FF non-renagefinder camera is the only way to go for anything wider than 28mm IMHO.

I for one love wide angles. Particularly fond of my 12mm and 15mm Voigtlander lenses.

Will be interested to see what the 9mm is - rectilinear or a fisheye? I just learned recently there is a TTArtisan 11mm fisheye in M-mount that I was going to buy. Fascinating days where new novel M-mount lenses are being regularly released!

The Hologon is different in that it does not distort any part of the image when used on a film camera. It does not give the standard very wide angle look. On an M8, I get a 21mm view, while on an M3 I get the 16mm view. The lens is tiny.

I have been carrying three Leica M cameras in a compact camera bag. There, small sized lenses must be used to fit all three cameras into the bag. I have the 16/8 on the M3; the Zeiss G on the M9; the Nokton 50/1.5 on the M8.
