New Sydrome - GASF

The new Tri-Elmar for your film M camera?
RFF hats for every one?
Some really good vintage scotch to drown your sorrows?
A short term CD so the $ isn't burning a hole in your pocket and will, hopefully, grow enough to cover the cost of M8.2?
A trip to somewhere warm--Brazil maybe?

If you really need to spend it that bad: Buy your wife/girlfriend/partner something nice, go out for a fancy dinner, and then give the rest to a local charity.

If Zeiss announced a new digital right now Leica would be screwed. On the other hand I hope Leica never goes out of business otherwise think about what would happen to the prices on used cameras! You wouldn't be able to touch anything under a grand.
Oh well. The universe unfolds...

If Canon wanted to kill Leica just for the pure marketing joy of it, they would announce a Canon "P-5D". M mount, manual rangefinder body based on the 5D for $2,900. They would say three/four fast retro MF lenses were in the works.

But they won't. Leica is just a gnat buzzing around their face. The market share we represent is way down on the Canon/Nikon priority lists. We are not central to their business goals. We do not represent the sales growth Canon/Nikon and their shareholders crave.

We have to wait our turn until the DSLR market becomes super saturated.

Until then, I will enjoy film.

They're making a killing on new "digital mount" lenses, so you're right. If they do look this way, which is as likely as W*l-M*rt selling American-made handcrafted goods, it would be either just pure greed or a wish to copycat the vogue.
