I just picked up a user condition R-D1S for a fantastic price
. Going to order some 2gb cards and Lenmar batteries.
Everything seems to be working properly, but I have only shot a couple pictures on it. I would like to know which eyepiece do you guys prefer?
From reading on here, I see that there is either the voigtlander one or the nikon F one. Which is better for someone wearing glasses? Secondly, the right strap lug is is completely torn off. Like half the loop is gone. So the camera is carried by a strap that connects to a case with lugs. Is it easy to replace the lugs on the body or do I need to take apart the camera to change the lug?
Also, I checked out Luigi and Zhou case, and both of them do not have their separate lugs on the cases. Does anyone know if there are cases with lugs attached? The one that came with my camera is pretty beat, and the previous owner didnt remember where he got it from.
Thanks

Hi,
For the eyepiece I use the Nikon ones for FM/FE one neutral that I use with my glasses and one with + 2 correction without glasses when I want to have a larger field of vie, for the 28 mm for exemple.

You can buy a Zhou case (they're the cheapest ones) and make yourself a system for strap with a piece of leather and pop rivets (there's black ones)

The Voigtlander one I bought is rubber-padded; the Nikon one is metal, not padded. I no longer use the Nikon one.

Thanks for the replies, I will be taking it on a short trip and will repair the things after I am back.
The lug that is broken still has the bottom half attached to the body. Where can I find replacement lugs? I assume I must take the body apart to replace them.
By the way, here is a shot I took with Canon 50/1.4

Nice shot, welcome to the club!
Guys, my eyepiece rubber has started to tear at the top, am I correct in thinking that the Nikon FM is the right size, then?

Mine was doing the same thing and I was thinking about replacing it too.
I got tired of worrying about it coming off and just ripped all the rubber off.
Honestly, I think it looks fine that way, and I don't feel like my eye is in any danger of being gouged out.
Might be worth giving it a try if you're thinking about replacing it anyway. As far as I know some of the eye piece replacements don't even have rubber on them anyway.

Sounds good to me, think I'll do that in the meantime.

cameraquest also has the correct eyepiece as it's the same one from the bessa cameras.
they should all have rubber around them if you wear glasses.

I'm in the UK so Cameraquest is no good I'm afraid - so it's a Nikon FM for me then?

Thanks that would be great.
There probably is a Voigtlander dealer yeah, but I have a strong suspicion that the Nikon ones will be cheaper!

actually, they are priced about the same. i bought this off ebay along with a few other small items - i was browsing and thought 'what the heck?'.
the nikon one is for the fm3a/fm2/fa/fe2...that is what is on the box. and it's called 'eyepiece'.

Nikon has at least two type of diopters of the right size, one with and one without rubberised eyepiece. Mine are without.

I got my replacement eyepiece from Robert White in the UK. Second one is also starting to lose the rubber ring. But expensive to replace again so, I think I'll just rip off the rubber too.
I've got contacts anyway.
