hi, ive just stumbled on his forum! ive just started "collecting" Yashica rangefinders after years of being in love with my Canon ae1 & t50.
the 1st Yashica i bought was a "J", about a month ago, its in great condition but the seals had turned to gooh so theyre being replaced. when it arrived in the post i was really impressed, and immediately went back on a certain auction site and bought an MG1. the seller said the electrics didnt work, but when i put a battery in... it worked! this morning ive had a Lynx 5000 arrive! im getting addicted to them! so far ive paid about £25 for these 3 cameras which i think is a bargain as all 3 are in really good condition.
which rangefinder is supposed to be the best or the most sought after? i know you will all have different ideas but there has to be 1 that is the dogs danglies!

welcome to the forum!

Which rangefinder is most sought after? I think most of us drool over leicas. lol! M2 M3 M4 M6 M7 MP and some of us drool over M8. it doesnt matter which one as long as it says leica on it ;)

Than there are lots of us who really enjoy the soviet rangefinders which have their quirks but are good cameras and are usually a bargain on the bay.

and there are tons more rangefinders that people here love, so look around, have fun and post some pictures in the gallery.

Welcome aboard, you will find a lot passionate people here, they actualy use their cameras to take photographs. Which is the best rangefinder? Most would say Leica, but there are some pretty strong contenders. Which is the best Yashica rangefinder? I don`t know enough about the brand to say, but I`d dearly love a black GTN in good nick, with a lens hood and case.

thanks for your replies, to be quite honest when i asked which was the best rangefinder, i meant yashica rangefinder! i cant afford a leica yet, but then again i dont know if i would have one if i could afford 1! i would have a voigtlander though, ive got an old vito b (viewfinder not rangefinder) and if they are built anything like that is, id definately have a modern one.

Welcome mate!
The best Yashica RF in my opinion would be the Electro 35 GSN / GTN followed by the MG-1 ( a de-featured GSN ). The Yashica Electro 35 GSN is chrome and the GTN is black finish. The Electros, and MG-1s, used a 5.6v battery that is not made anymore but the tollerance of the meter as regards what powers it is from 4.6v to 6.5v so a battery adapter from 'Yashica Guy' allows the use of the more common 6v batteries. The Yashinon lens in the Electros is six elements in four groups from memory and is very sharp.

Regards
Peter
