Nex and the Minolta 28mm

The Minolta 28mm is, like, one of the cheapest Alpha mount primes. Not too highly regarded, either. Which is why I have it. Not because it's not highly regarded, but because it is cheap.

I did an informal test comparison between this and the kit lens. I think the prime still has more detail, but it suffers from some oddities -- more green in out of focus areas, a harsh edge to the bokeh highlights, and an oval look to the highlights near the edges. The Nex kit lens is nicely consistent, at least.

I dunno, the 28mm seems to be a mixed bag. I can more easily justify the use of the Minolta 50/1.7. It is imperfect, but much better.
