We all must have noticed the squeek that comes when you turn off the NEX. I'm wondering what really happens there.

I've concluded that it can't be sensor cleaning. The power down squeek is different from the sensor cleaning one (set-up menu-> cleaning mode), and the power down squeek is always there, even when the battery is really low (sensor cleaning only works with the battery above 60%). Besides, if there's dust on the sensor, the power down sequence does nothing about it. You really need the sensor cleaning option.

What I have noticed, is that the aperture on the lens is closed down all the way. By the way: I think this is brilliant: reduces the risk of sunburns on the sensor/aliasing filter. But it's not the squeeky sound. Aperture closing down is more of a soft 'krrrrrt'.

So the question remains.. what's that squeeky sound?
