When it's not raining here, this time of year can be amazing. I'm certainly not a landscape photographer and the first shot is as close as I could get to capturing the light over Lake Union in B&W. The second is pretty much a neutral conversion from the DNG. I just got this camera(M8)... for a four year old design it it seems fairly capable.

When I saw the first picture I was reminded of the God v Moses 10 Commandments scene in the same film. Nice.

Nice light on the first one but from the thumb nail not that much in sharp focus. Looks like a bit higher aperture might have helped?! Second one Im not so keen on the branch in sharp focus as fore ground, and the rest looks a bit soft. Again Id max the aperture and drag the shutter. Thats what rangefinders are good at. Just my 2 cents. Enjoy your M8

Best wishes

Richard, thanks for the comments. I was shooting in the fog as it was lifting... so except for the branches in the foreground they are both a little soft. I had to butcher both shots to get them down to the size requirement but the second shot in full resolution has a painterly quality that I never seemed able to achieve with my APS-C DSLR... probably the Summicron lense more than the camera but the unadulterated colors were nice too. I have a CV35 1,2 coming... I am enjoying this camera.

GSHybrid,

did you make it to GasWorks Park? great views in all directions from atop the hill. you're correct though; if it's not too rainy, the sky can be one enormous soft box. i visited for a week two years ago and loved every frame i shot.

Jeffrey,
I have a warehouse/studio a few blocks from gas works. I always bring my out of town guests there. I'm a production designer and on my website there are some shots of a event I worked on at gas works.
If you'd like to see an over the top party just navigate to:

http://web.me.com/geofspencer/Geof_Spencer/photos/photos.html

and click " set photos " they're toward the end that album. Legally I'm not permitted to post pictures of the actual event but it you can get the idea of the scope from the construction photos.
