Nice. I bet its a stunning performer, and no doubt way better than the Ai-S 35mm f/1.4, especially wide open. Shame its so $$$$.

Price is definitely steep (a lot of shifts for me to pick up to nab this one)... although it's nice to see that they're finally developing a line of f1.4 AF primes.

Nikon is really bringing out the big guns this year!!
Looks nice - I wonder how it'll compare with the 35L - which is a brilliant lens.

The MTF wide open shows some even performance across the field. Not super sharp but they did take care of the corners. A nice thing to know for me.
Now the only problem left is the price tag..

Have you used it much? Please grace us with some shots if possible! Specifically from f1.4-f2.

I'll take it out to play soon enough. At the moment I can say that it's very sharp. AF is simply spot-on.
I'm a little late with these things, given that I prefer to hit the streets with RF cameras. Last weekend I only managed to play with the new 85mm (enjoyed it a lot, due to the results).

Please take a few shots close up to check the barrel distortion! The Ai-S 35mm f/1.4 is woeful in that regard. I'm hoping for a big improvement!

Wwwwow. Those 3 nikkors look seriously sexy together (and that's from a canon guy).
Well, when you get some shots through it please show and tell on this thread! I'd love to see and hear how you like it!
There's a few sample shots on the Nikon website (link below). I like what I see so far!

The 35 is quite similar in size with the 24 - nice to see as I thought the 24 handled really well with the D700 (in store fondling only).

I have the 24/1.4. It's big, but not too big that I won't carry it. The 24-70/2.8, on the other hand, despite being such a good lens is over my size threshold :bang:

About the size - all three are quite similar (to the point where I'm wondering how photogs would (easily) find them in a bag, would need to check the label).
Size differences - 35 is most compact (thinnest) with smaller front diameter. 85 is the fattest, huge gaping lighttunnel. 24mm and 85mm have the same front diameter. The length of all three is quite similar, as you can see.

...which lead me to look at the new Sigma 24-70 last year (purchased neither do to a sudden reallocation of funds
At the present time, my 35mm f2 is the body cap for my D700, but I'd be willing to sacrifice the slightly added bulk of this 35mm for the extra stop.
