I have a Nikkor 50/1.4 Screw Mount lens coming and I am wondering what size UV filter it takes? Maybe there is a Nikon website that can let us know.?

As said above. I recommend also a hood, and in particular Stephen's compact 43mm hood (also usable for the 35/1.8).

Great lens.

If it's anything like the Nikon-mount version, a modern 43mm filter will bind solid after a couple of turns; and, if you're not careful, will unscrew the lens body when you try to remove it.

Go on - ask me how I know. :(

Confirming what Fred said, the standard 43mm pitch filters from B+W, Hoya, Leitz, etc. will work on both LTM 50/1.4 and LTM 35/1.8. No binding unless your lens has a dent. B+W sells a chrome 43mm filter that is particularly nice.

I know how you know, because I know, too. I suppose knowing made me wiser, but man was I surprised how easy it was to know.

In my case, the pitch was fine, but there was a very small ding that enlightened me.

I would agree that modern filters, so long as they are of good quality, should fit fine. However, judging from my experience, you may encounter fit problems w/the cheaper vented hoods sold on eBay, i.e., you get what you pay for.
