Just received a chrome Nikkor 85/2 LTM (eBay purchase). Beautiful condition, apart from a little oil on the diaphragm blades.

First interesting thing I noticed is that the aperture ring rotates with the focus ring (as does the whole front part of the lens). Are all versions of the 85/2 constructed like this? What about the 105/2.5?

Thanks,
Ari

Same goes for the 105/2.5, two sets of aperture stops on opposite sides of the barrel.

Nice, like the vintage 50/2.8 Elmar.

The chrome 85/2 only has aperture scale on one side. Makes sense, because the stop markings are logarithmically spaced. Probably only possible to mirror on the other side if they're linearly spaced.

Cheapo 48mm screw-in hoods are plentiful. Even the original chrome NK hoods aren't too hard to find, though they're often more beat-up than the lenses themselves.

Yep. Even the clamp-on hood I have is less than ideal, since I like to mount those with the set screw out of the way on the right so it doesn't snag on anything in use.
