What I want to discuss is actually a bit more than what the title suggests... I have a Leica M-system and a Nikon S-system, with pretty much a full range of lenses for both.

But I am not using long focal length lenses that much and would like to consolidation my gear. For my M system, I have a CV 75/2.5 and a 90 Elmar-C. For the S, I have a Nikkor 85/2 and Nikkor 105/2.5.

I am thinking of ditching the CV, Elmar, and Nikkor 105, and keeping only the 85/2 and buying a Amedeo adapter so that I can use the Nikkor 85 on both systems. Is this a wise idea?

Alternatively, I will sell the CV and keepthe Elmar for the M system; and sell one of the long lenses for the S system.

What do you think?

Keep all and use M sistem and S sistem on relative body.
Amedeo adapter is " Non plus ultra" or "best choice", in my opinion, for lens from 21mm to 50 mm.

I would say, depending on which 85/2 you have. The older chrome ones are real heavy compared to the CV lens or the Elmar. Might be nice to have a lighter alternative.

Also, if you go the adapter route, make sure it brings up the right frame-lines.

Roland.

Perfectly viable option, so long as you know that you can live w/the 8.5cm/2 alone. Per ferider's note, if you do go that route & get an Amedeo adapter, just get the LTM version so that you can choose your own framelines & use the adapter w/your other Nikon RF lenses.

...or you could do what I did some years ago, I bought a chrome 85/2 in "S" mount, and when the opportunity came I bought similar in LTM (to use with adapter on M-Leica or as is with my IIIF).

I use the Nikkor 85/2 and 105 with an Amedeo adapter to Leica M which is made for 50mm and up - you are able to rangefinder focus on the M. The Amedeo adapter for wides 35 mm and wider, you are not able to use the M's rangefinder. If you like the signature of the 85/2 and 105 then the adapter is worth it. Very easy to use.
