I've been looking at this ad for several days now, and it's all I can do to keep from buying it. But w/ thousands of negatives to sort through and decide what to print, I need to buy a camera like I need another hole in the head. So I thought I would give a heads up to anyone that likes these old Nikkormats as much as I do. The lens on this one is one of the best 50's in photography, and everything looks ready to shoot. Insanely good price for a camera that has been tested.

Sorry, I've got my eyes open for a FT3 as it takes newer batteries and the glass I have is AIed. If I get older stuff I have a F2 Plain Prism and my first SLR, a Nikkormat FTn......

I been screwed. Paid 60 for mine 5 years ago.
Great lens too.
Basically is a Nikon F without interchangeable screens or prisms or motors. Keeps life simple.
Downside is if you change lenses, you need to reset stuff that is pretty fiddly to keep it working .

I would buy it just for the lens. All of the 50 2.0 Nikkors' I have looked at are either a lot more money or in sad shape.

I have three Nikkormat's. If I were getting one today, I would go for the FT2. They are built like tanks.

Superb cameras with great shutters, lightmeters and viewfinders. The Nikkor H Auto 50mm f/2 is just great.
Nikkormat FTn, Nikkor H Auto 50mm f/2, 400-2TMY.

Best deals in film cameras and the lens is great as noted. I have 4 of these Nikons or I would buy it.

They all are tanks!
I use the FT2s as they take modern batteries (just one!), have the brighter screen and use both AI and non AI lenses w/o having to do stop down metering.

I paid $5.98 (the cost of shipping IIRC) last year for an FT with a non-working light meter. I would use it more but I find my FT2 which has a working meter to be more convenient.

I have three Nikkormat FTns, one FT2, one FT3 and a EL. They are great cameras and I got a soft spot for them.
