Does anyone know where I can find a Nikon AI conversion aperture ring?
I just came into a fantastic condition Nikkor SC 50mm f/1.4 and I'm dying to use it on my D2x (which needs AI or later.)
I really don't want to hack up the original aperture ring with a dremel and a file either. I'd rather take an AI aperture ring from a junker lens and retrofit it if I can't find the proper conversion.
So, does anyone know where I might be able to find the part?
Thanks all,
Phil Forrest

I doubt you'll be able to find the correct aperture ring by itself. That was a popular lens, and like may other such, the AI conversion kits got snapped up quickly.
A better bet might be to find a fungus-infested lens that was converted long ago.
Or, have the conversion done by a pro. I've seen some recent conversions that don't look too bad and the cost isn't unreasonable.
Good luck with it!

Very difficult to find now for a 50/1.4. These are the usual places to look.

Your idea of finding a junker on ebay or elsewhere is probably your best bet. Or just sell your lens and find an equally good one that has already been AI'd. They're out there.

John White still does AI Conversions and has been doing it almost forever. If you can't find an adapter ring (Almost Impossible now) John is the Guy.
