When my computer went to Windows 7, I had to dig around to find a DLL file edit that kept my Nikon Coolscan 4 working. Now, I'm getting bugged to move to Windows 10- will I encounter problems, and is there a nice easy fix again? I hope?

I don't know who is bugging you, but I can't think of a good reason to move to 10. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I have used my 4000 ED + Vuscan on an old computer running WXP and on newer computers running Windows 7-8-10, without problems
New computers don't come with a Firewire port, but you can install a Firewire PCI-Express card

That would be Microsoft, with a periodic popup. They would very much like to standardize their customer base on Win 10, and I expect Win 7 support to stop shortly.
